Academic Deposit

If you are a first-time freshman student, you will receive a letter requesting payment of the WVU academic deposit. To reserve your spot in our 2008 class, send us your payment, along with the invoice, in the envelope provided or payment may be made online through your WVU MIX account. This deposit will be credited toward your tuition and fees.

Paying the deposit ensure that we will send you an application for on-campus housing and a New Student Orientation registration packet. If you fail to pay the academic deposit in a timely manner, we will assume that you are no longer interesting in attending WVU. The deposit is fully refundable if requested in writing by January 1 for the spring term and May 1 for the fall term.

To pay your academic deposit online, you need to log in to your MIX account. Please click here for more information on MIX. Once in MIX, you may follow this series of links to reach the academic deposit payment Web site:

  1. Click on the STAR tab
  2. Click on the STAR link
  3. Click on the Student and Financial Aid link
  4. Click on the Admissions link
  5. Click on the Pay Academic Deposit link

If you have been admitted to the University and have not yet paid the academic deposit, the Web site will allow you to proceed with payment of the deposit by e-check, debit card, or the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, or Discover.

Transfer students are not required to pay an academic deposit at this time.
