Immunization Requirements
Fall 2009 and Spring 2010
To ensure the health and safety of our campus, immunization against communicable diseases is extremely important. Vaccination against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) is required of all transfer students, while the following vaccinations are required of all first-time freshmen beginning with Fall 2009.
- Meningococcal vaccine
- Polio series
- Tetanus-Diptheria-Pertussis (DTaP, Tdap, DT and Td)
- Hepatitis B series
Documentation of these immunizations must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records prior to enrollment in the Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 semester, whichever is your initial entry semester.

The following immunizations are also recommended prior to enrollment at WVU:
- Varicella vaccine or history of chicken pox
- Tuberculosis skin test, if applicable
- HEPATITIS A vaccine
- Annual Influenza vaccines
- Pneumovax, if indicated
- HPV series—Gardasil (for females)
- Most students enrolled in a health care major will be required to have the Pertussis vaccination
