Timeline

September 15
  • WVU begins processing applications.
October-December October 15
  • WVU begins awarding scholarships on a rolling basis.
  • Housing begins to receive completed housing applications. You must pay your academic deposit to receive a housing application.
December 1
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at your guidance office or WVU Financial Aid Office.
January 1
  • The FAFSA is available online.
February 1
  • Deadline for WVU-administered academic scholarship consideration.
  • Priority deadline for WVU admission.
  • Housing roommate request deadline; applications with requested roommates must be received by this date.
  • Housing assignments begin and continue on a rolling basis.
February 15
  • Priority financial aid deadline.
March 1
  • Financial aid deadline for institutional need-based aid.
  • West Virginia residents must submit PROMISE Scholarship application.
  • Academic deposit priority deadline.
March-April
  • Financial Aid award letters are mailed to admitted students. Complete the acceptance form on the back of your award letter and return it to the Financial Aid Office within 15 days. Failure to return the award letter will cause your Financial Aid to be canceled.
  • New Student Orientation Information is sent to students who have paid the academic deposit.
May 1
  • Submit your academic deposit by this date to accept our offer of admission. After this date, we cannot guarantee that there will be room in our freshman class.
  • Last day to request in writing a full refund of the academic deposit and/or partial refund of housing deposit.
  • Deadline to register for New Student Orientation.
June
  • Attend New Student Orientation.
  • Submit final transcripts and/or immunization records.
July/August
  • Receive electronic bill for tuition, fees, and housing through your MIX account.
