Getting Started
Welcome Week
The entire campus welcomes new and returning students during the first week of classes.
Listed below are descriptions of what took place during welcome week 2007
Friday – Trading Spaces
Welcome to your new home. This is the first day that you can move in to your residence hall. After you’ve moved in, we’ll be offering a Welcome Picnic at the Student Recreation Center along with a student organization fair. This is a great opportunity for you to learn about our hundreds of student organizations and opportunities that exist outside of the classroom.
Saturday – Taking Care of Business
You’re all moved in, but you have so much to do before school starts on Monday. We offer a Help Center in Elizabeth Moore Hall where you can have your questions answered. We also offer special programming throughout the day. The day concludes with Mountaineer Shopping Extravaganza.
Sunday – Be a Mountaineer!
Start the school year off with New Student Convocation. This is your first traditional ceremony at WVU, and it is the kickoff to your academic career. Attendance at New Student Convocation is a requirement for University 101. If you have questions about your schedule, advisors will be available during dinner in the dining halls to answer your questions. Later that evening, students living in the residence hall will have their first floor meeting.
Monday – FallFest
Welcome to your first day of classes! Don’t forget this is the last day for Student Service Days (one-stop-shop), where you can check on your student account and financial aid. Additionally, the Help Center at E Moore Hall is open today and the rest of the week. The day concludes with our FallFest celebration, where top musical acts and entertainment give free performances for WVU students.
Tuesday – Wellness Day
Staying healthy is a big part of your success at WVU. The Student Recreation Center will host activities throughout the day, including cholesterol screenings and body fat analysis, information sessions on healthy weight control, and free chair massages.
Wednesday – Community and Student Organization Day
Learn more about the student organizations on campus as well as the city of Morgantown.
Thursday – Multicultural Day
WVU has a diverse campus. There are students from all counties in West Virginia, all 50 states, and 100 countries. Learn about other cultures as well as study abroad opportunities. This will also be the kickoff to WVUp All Night.
Friday
Catch the WVU spirit. Today is the day to wear your gold and blue or your favorite WVU attire.
