Getting Started
Your First Day at WVU
My first day here was really exciting just because I’d underestimated how different college would be from high school. I didn’t think it would be that different, and it was so overwhelming that I was just excited all day that I couldn’t sleep at all. My roommate was the same way, so there was this buzz in our room, and that was a lot of fun.

My first day of class was filled with excitement and nervousness, I had so much fun walking around the campus and looking for my class, but I was also nervous that I was going to be late and my teachers were going to be mad. I was wrong and actually all of my teachers have been great people.
- Brandon Thomas, Advertising Junior
The first day on campus was my best day as a Mountaineer, just because it was a wide variety of feelings, from being nervous on the way down here with my parents, to realizing it would be OK. Once I got here, I immediately knew it’s where I wanted to be.
- Sean Fitzpatrick, Alumnus and Sport and Exercise Psychology Graduate Student
My best day was the first day of classes. Of course, I was nervous, but after I had attended all my classes I realized how much I was going to enjoy college. To top it off, I had a great time at FallFest and knew WVU was going to be a great experience for me.
- Erin Marcum, Pharmacy Student
The first day I came here I thought it was really big, but after a couple of days I got in the flow of things. Now it just seems like home, everyone is really nice, and I know where everything is.
