Mountaineer Sports

The Mountaineer athletic tradition is legendary-and you will be part of it. Whether it’s the excitement of over 60,000 fans at Mountaineer Field united in their love for our football team, or a basketball legacy that includes Jerry West (his outline is on the NBA logo), there’s nothing like being a Mountaineer.

Recent Highlights

New suites at Milan Puskar Stadium, a renovated WVU Coliseum, the new Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, and a new wrestling facility do not overshadow the amazing recent performances of WVU athletes.

The Mountaineer football team won the 2008 Meineke Car Care Bowl, the men’s basketball team played in the NCAA Tournament, and the coed rifle team captured its 14th national title.

ESPN The Magazine ranked WVU’s student section as the third-most-spirited student section in the nation.
