Transportation
As part of a growing sustainability initiative, WVU offers a variety of public transportation opportunities for students to easily get around campus and Morgantown.
Personal Rapid Transit (PRT)
WVU operates the only public Personal Rapid Transit system in the world! This unique, easy-to-use transportation solution offers five stations around town. PRT costs are included in undergraduate tuition and fees; students simply swipe their Mountaineer Card IDs at the PRT station for admittance.
Local Bus System
Mountain Line is a county-wide bus system that travels throughout WVU’s campuses and the city of Morgantown. By showing your Mountaineer Card ID, you can ride Mountain Line’s local routes for free.
Grey Line to Pittsburgh
Mountain Line also offers the Grey Line Route, which provides two daily buses connecting north central West Virginia to the Pittsburgh area. This service includes morning and evening connections to the Pittsburgh Greyhound station and Pittsburgh International Airport, and offers business class amenities and other features and comforts not found on common public transit services.
Alternative Transportation
The WE GO! initiative promotes alternative transportation by offering carpool, vanpool, and car-share programs and by maintaining bike racks across campus. The Zipcar car-sharing program provides access to a hybrid vehicle on a short-term hourly rental basis.
Parking
Like many college campuses, student parking is very limited at WVU. While cars are not prohibited, WVU requests that students do not bring cars to campus. For information regarding WVU’s limited student parking, please contact the Office of Transportation and Parking.
